Company History

We have been in the gem industry since 1974 and our lapidary has been servicing the international gem world for over 20 years.

The Managing Partner, Yath Iqbal, is a former President of the Sri Lanka Lapidarists and Exporters Association. In recognition of his services to the industry he was made a Member of the Board of Directors of the National Gem and Jewellery Authority of Sri Lanka (NGJA), representing the Private Sector from 1996 to 2001. The NGJA is a government body that supervises and promotes the gem industry in Sri Lanka. He is a life member and former Executive Member of the Apex Private Sector Body of the Gem Industry in Sri Lanka - the Sri Lanka Gem and Jewellery Association.

Staff

Our staff are highly trained, skilled and knowledgeable. Some of them have been with us from our inception and their expertise is invaluable in making studied decisions on all areas connected to lapidary work.

We train our own staff in-house in all aspects of gem processing and therefore their skill levels are higher than in any other lapidary where often they are taught and trained only in certain aspects of the lapidary work.

Present Customers

At present we have a diverse customer base from USA, Germany, Canada and several other countries.

Location

We are located in Sri Lanka, one of the world’s oldest gem producing countries. Sri Lanka’s regulations for import and export of gems are very simple and with the assurance of good security. Import of gems is free of taxes and other customs duties. Only handling and clearing charges are liable. All international destinations are well covered by both airlines and courier services. Excellent postal facilities are in place and insurance is available.

Equipment Used

Currently we use modern motor-driven equipment with index gears and protractors, enabling accuracy and repeatability.
